TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE
Acupuncture, Massage and Folk Techniques (cupping, gua sha)
TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE...
...presupposes the existence of a vital energy , essential to life, circulating throughout the body. While the wind is invisible, it is nonetheless very real; the same is true of energy. We cannot see it, but we can observe its manifestations.
It is transported by a network of channels called meridians . These carry this "fuel" throughout the body, which is used to maintain and operate the brain, organs, muscles, bones, nerves, glands and all other systems.
When energy flows harmoniously, there is balance and health . But this flow can be disrupted by several factors: stress, poor diet, emotions, climate variations, and environmental factors. It can then be slowed, blocked, or deficient, leading to a number of dysfunctions.
The practitioner of Chinese medicine will seek to identify the root cause of the dysfunctions by establishing an energy assessment. They will then restore balance and health using needles, moxibustion, herbs, massage, and/or cupping.
